Big White Activities

 
1. Snow Host Mountain Tours Explore our impressive terrain with your friends and family, or join one of our legendary Snow hosts as they guide you on a complimentary mountain tour. They know the mountain better than anyone! Tours leave from outside the Village Centre Mall at 9:15am and 1:15pm every day.
 
2. Mega SnowCoaster Experience North America's largest resort tubing park. Located in Happy Valley, just a short gondola ride from the village centre.
 
3. Helicopter Services A variety of thrilling helicopter tours are available. Take a scenic helicopter tour of Big White and marvel at the spectacular panoramic vistas of Big white and the picturesque Monashee Ranges. An inter-resort heli-shuttle is also available to nearby Silver Star Mountain Resort - the first of it's kind in North America. Shuttles are also available to and from the Kelowna International Airport and to renowned Okanagan wineries. It's an experience you will never forget.
 
4. Ice Skating Big White's outdoor ice skating rink is located at Happy Valley. Great for all ages and all members of the family. Skate rental is available from downstairs in the Happy Valley Daylodge.
 
5. Kids' Snowmobile Track Big White offers a mini snowmobile track so that even the younger members of the family do not have to miss out on the thrill of riding a snowmobile.
 
7. Dog Sledding Adventures Experience the thrill of mushing your own team of dogs through Big White's pristine back country. Dog sledding adventures area available on weekends, and can be booked through the Big White's activity desk in the Village Centre Mall.
 
8. Night Skiing Ski under the bright lights of the largest night skiing area in Western Canada. Night skiing operates mid December to early April, Tuesday through Saturday and every night during Christmas, President's Week and Spring Break. Night skiing is free with the purchase of any multi-day lift tickets.
 
9. Horse Drawn Sleigh Ridges Enjoy a ride on an old fashioned horse drawn sleigh through Big White's magical village. For more information and bookings visit the Big White Activities Desk.
 
10. Evening Bonfires Located in the Village Centre, Mega Snow Coaster and the Happy Valley skating rink, are large wood burning fire pits. Enjoy roasting marshmallows and complimentary hot chocolate at various times throughout the week.
 
11. Mountain Top Internet Located at Trappers Crossing, Mountain Top Internet has 10 new high speed internet computers, lap top computer hook-up, photo copying, faxing, and a coffee bar. Digital cameras and digital camera cards will be available for hire. Guests will be able to download photo's from their digital cameras to print and copy onto CD.
12. Snowmobile Tours Takes guests on guided scenic tours through the forest trails and back country of Big White Ski Resort Ltd. Drive your own snow mobile or double up with a friend. Tours depart daily at 8.30am, 11.00am, 1.30pm and 4pm. Tours are for 1hr, 2hr and 4 hrs including safety gear and hot chocolate.
 
13. Snowshoe Tours Tour our wooded trails on a 2 hour guided trip departing at 1.30pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Includes snowshoe rental, light refreshments and interpretive guide.
14. Distinctly Kelowna Tours Offering four escorted tours that showcase Kelowna’s Art, Wine, Casino, Shopping and Cuisine! Play for the Day; Boutiques; Dine & Wine; Perfect Partners: Wine & Food or Art & Culture. Book early to reserve a seat!
 
15. Family Entertainment Happy Valley & The Village Centre Mall host a range of activities suitable for the entire family including Bingo Nights, Movie Nights, & Family Carnival Night on Thursday and Saturday nights. Check the Weekly Events at the Activities Desk to find out more!

Family fun

When the chairlifts close, the resort comes alive with exciting activities for all ages. Join in the fun nightly activities starting off with “The Taste of Big White” on Monday meet new friends and find out what’s happening at the resort that week and have a “taste” of everything the mountain has to offer: gourmet cuisine, adventure tours, sample massages and much more! Great door prizes! Hang around for Movie Night, go tubing, skating, play hockey, try a sleigh ride or hang out by the Bonfire and sip hot chocolate. The kids can even try a Mini Snowmobile; they will love our Mini snowmobile track. Tuesday night brings Bingo at Happy Valley fun prizes for all as well as all the other night time activities. Happy valley hosts a weekly theme night on Wednesdays capped of with a Fireworks show. Every Thursday our famous Carnival Night takes place with all sorts of games, fun and prizes for the kids and there is a Teen Tubing party at the Megasnowcoaster. The skating rink hosts a skating party every Friday and The Kids Centre has a games and movie night for the 6 to 12 year olds and on Saturdays see the return of Carnival Night and Movie Night.

Tuesdays through Saturdays and every night during Christmas, Presidents week and Spring Break we have night skiing and riding from 5:00 to 8:00. Mom and dad can relax and enjoy one of the restaurants or pubs while the kids have pizza and a movie, hang out at one of our open air firepits or go ice skating and tubing. Tour the village on a nostalgic horse drawn cutter sleigh, indulging in a soothing massage or esthetics treatment and find the perfect gift, logo wear or ski / board equipment in one of the many retail outlets.

Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays check out the 2010 Go for Gold Fun race with skier and snowboarder courses. Challenge yourself, friends or family great prizes for all! Every weekend there will be events in our new Telus Park whether it is a fun rail or pipe jam, a pro event or The Canadian National Championships there is always something happening at Telus Park.

Ski Canada Magazine rates the Kids Centre as the ‘Best Resort Feature for Kids in Canada’ and the UK’s London Daily Mail rated it one of the top five in the world! The Good Ski Guide from Great Britain voted Big White “The Best Family Resort in North America”. Big White is the ultimate kid’s playground, a fun and safe environment featuring wide open runs, perfect for learning new skills.

The award winning Kids Ski School provides certified kid specialists provide daily on snow activities for children. Whether they are skiers or boarders choose from discounted multi-day, full day, or half day programs that can be packaged with lifts and rentals. Children are placed in a variety of groups based on their age and ability level. Free helmets are provided courtesy of Wendy’s Restaurants for children under 13 years of age.

Tot Town Child Care is a licensed facility operating daily from 8:30am – 4:00pm. Tot Town, for children from 18 months to 5 years old, has developed a reputation for providing excellent facilities to look after the young ones! For children under 18 months contact the Kids Centre for their childcare list which is constantly updated.

The Activities Desk, located in the Village Centre Mall can help you plan your day or week, book for many of the activities and provide your family with valuable holiday information. Located in the Village Centre they are there to help you with any request.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

 
1. Why can’t I use my VISA card in the money machines? The ATM money machine at Big White accepts Mastercard, AMEX and accepts the following debit cards: Maestro, Cirrus and Interac. The money machines do not accept certain Visa cards. The ATM at the Kelowna International Airport accepts most Visa cards. Visa is accepted at all ticket, rental, food, beverage and retail points of sale throughout the village. If it is an emergency, the Ticket Office in the Village Centre Mall may be able to give a one time cash advance with a purchase.
 
2. Where are the money machines located? There are four money machines available: 1 Next to the Activities Desk in the Village Centre Mall, 2 Near the Ticket Office in the Happy Valley Day Lodge, 3 Snowshoe Sam’s, and 4 the Mountain Mart.
 
3. Where are the public washrooms in the Village Centre Mall? The public washrooms are located downstairs in the Village Centre Mall. Simply go down the stairs, turn left and take the first right.
 
4. Where can I buy lift tickets, lessons, and rentals? To buy lift tickets, please go to any tickets desk at the Westridge Warming Hut, the Ridge Day Lodge, Happy Valley Day Lodge or the Village Centre Mall. The Ski/Board School Desk is the point of sale for all ski/board lessons, located in the Village Centre Mall. To rent ski or snowboarding equipment, please visit our Rental Shop located upstairs in the Village Centre Mall. To rent skates, please visit the ticket office at Happy Valley.
 
5. Where is the Lost and Found? The Lost and Found is at the Ticket Office in the Village Centre Mall.
 
6. Do you have any transportation into Kelowna? We have a shopping shuttle that goes to Kelowna every Tuesday for $10. It leaves Happy Valley car park at 8:30 and returns around 4:30. It goes to Orchard Park Shopping Mall and a Save-On-Foods is across the street.
 
7. Where can I get a trail map? Trail Maps are available throughout the upstairs of the Village Centre Mall and at all Ticket Sales located at the Westridge Warming Hut, Ridge Daylodge and Happy Valley as well as most of the other business establishments at Big White.
 
8. Where do I buy stamps? And where do I post my letters? Once you are ready to post your letter or postcard, you may bring them to the Administration Building (upstairs in the yellow building beside the Village Centre Mall) where your mail will be posted with a machine stamp that you purchase there. It then will be taken to the post office in Kelowna to be sent off.
 
9. Where are the retail shops located (clothing, gifts, souvenirs, ski gear…)? Ski Dazzle and Village Rider upstairs in the Village Centre Mall, Down Under Gift Shop downstairs and the Company Store upstairs in Happy Valley.
 
10. Where can I exchange foreign currency? Foreign money exchange is available at Ticket Office in the Village Centre Mall.
 
11. Is there public internet access? Internet Access is available in the Mountain Top Internet Café located at Trapper’s Crossing. There are internet computers at Beano’s in the Village Centre Mall, at Sam’s and one at the Whitefoot Lodge.
 
12. How do I get to Happy Valley/Mega Snowcoaster/Ice Skating Rink? The Happy Valley Gondola is located right next to the Village Centre Mall. You can ride on the Gondola to the Happy Valley Day Lodge. The ice skating rink is right in front of the day lodge and the Mega Snowcoaster Tubing Ride is located just off to the left of the gondola bottom base station.
 
13. Where are the lockers? Or ski repair? Day lockers and Ski Repair are located downstairs of the Village Centre Mall.
 
14. Where can I get a quick lunch? Where is the nearest pub/lounge? A quick lunch is available upstairs of the Village Centre Mall at Beano’s Coffee Shop and downstairs at the Bakery. Frank’s Chinese Laundry has a buffet for lunch and dinner, Friday through Sunday and is located on the main floor of the Whitefoot Lodge. The Happy Valley Day Lodge and the Ridge Day Lodge have cafeterias for lunch and snacks. Pubs and Lounges nearby are the Snow Ghost Lounge at the White Crystal, and Snowshoe Sam’s. The Loose Moose Cafeteria at Happy Valley changes to a family friendly restaurant with a pub atmosphere after 4pm. Sit down lunches and kids are welcome at the Swiss Bear, The White Crystal Inn and upstairs at Snowshoe Sams.
 
15. Where can I buy a phone card? Phone cards are available at the Mountain Mart in the Whitefoot Lodge.
